Palm Park is a vital piece of the Waterloo Greenway - an interconnected park system woven through various city-owned properties and easements. The greenway creates a vibrant urban gathering space while transforming Waller Creek into a thriving ecological corridor.

Palm Park is envisioned as a downtown destination for families within the Greenway. The park features diverse playscapes and recreational areas that cater to both children and adults. At its heart stands a historic 1930s masonry shelter house that we are reimagining as new park restrooms and gathering space. A new roof canopy will protect the historic structure while allowing the restrooms to be naturally ventilated and daylit.

The park will also include a new shade structure and multi-use space. The open air pavilion replicates the footprint of the historic pool at Palm Park. Its distinctive canopy, reminiscent of shimmering water's surface, provides essential shade for both daily activities and special events.
