Design Team: Murray Legge, Luca Senise, Lincoln Davidson, Travis Avery
Size: 2,340 sq ft new construction
Year Completed: In Progress

The Covid pandemic changed the way we work. Decentralized offices and digital communication tools have allowed people to work anywhere in the world. The Andros Live Work project will allow a Greek filmmaker and her production team the ability to work together in this remote location. This project conceives of a “collective” remote work site where creative teams work together in the same physical location but as a group they are located far off the gird. The program calls for individual live/work quarters (cells), common living space and work space for writing, film editing and screenings. The new buildings are knit into the existing ancient landscape. For over one thousand years this Cycladic site was used for grain production. To make the steep rocky land arable the ancient peoples constructed stone terrace walls and maintained them for hundreds of years until the agricultural production on the islands stopped some 8o years ago. The proposed buildings are built with concrete and existing stone incorporating the ancient stone terraces and buildings. The buildings are proposed to be entirely off gird. Water is collected and stored in the pool/cistern and power generated through the use of a PV system.
